80-year-old KZN man killed in police shootout

An 80-year-old man has been killed in a shootout with KwaZulu-Natal police after the elderly man shot another man in the face.
Police say the victim went to the property in Bergville earlier today to look for his goats that had apparently been confiscated.
Spokesperson, Jay Naicker says the 80-year-old man opened fire on the victim who is thought to be in his forties.

Naicker says police were called in and the wounded victim was rushed to hospital.
"Police, together with our chief negotiator, approached the suspect with the attempt to arrest him for attempted murder. It is alleged that the suspect opened fire on them and during the exchange of gunfire, the suspect was fatally wounded."
Naicker says the police have opened a case of attempted murder and an inquest docket for further investigation.
