21 arrested in Ladysmith protests
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
KZN police say 21 people have been arrested since the Ladysmith shutdown began. Nineteen of them were taken into custody yesterday.
Roads in the town have been barricaded since Tuesday when the protest began.
The shutdown has also disrupted water supply services after workers at the local treatment plant were threatened and prevented from accessing the facility.
Protesting locals are unhappy with service delivery and have also raised concern about taxi violence. They're calling on the mayor to step down.

The police officers reacted swiftly and arrested them.
"Two suspects were arrested for common robbery after they robbed a truck driver of his vehicles keys and a total of six taxis were impounded. All the arrested suspects will make an appearance at the Ladysmith Magistrates Court on Monday," said Mbele.
