More wet weather for KZN motorists
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Heavy rains are expected to cause havoc on KZN's roads again today.
Emergency services are warning motorists, especially those in eThekwini, to exercise caution while behind the wheel, as some routes could be waterlogged.
The municipality's Tozi Mthethwa says officials will be visible to assist motorists on the roads and other residents in the Metro.
"We ask residents in low-lying areas to be cautious. We have noted flooding in KwaMashu for example and our disaster management team is out in full force observing what is happening and lending a helping hand where it is required," she said.
The SA Weather service is also predicting heavy snowfall in some parts of the province including Kokstad and Underberg.
Meanwhile, two women are lucky to be alive this morning after being saved from a residential building in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban last night.
ER24 responded to a request for assistance and found that the women needed help in the flooded two storey building.
Spokesperson Russel Meiring says paramedics searched the building and found that the water was waist height on the first floor.
"We immediately began searching and eventually found the two women, both of them were carried to a waiting ambulance and than assessed by paramedics. Fortunately both women has escaped injuries but they were both in a state of shock," he said.
