EMS and other services on high alert in Durban and KZN

Spokesperson Robert Mckenzie is advising motorists to be extremely cautious on their way to work this morning.
"You will still see the effects of yesterday's downpours, so we advise motorists to please drive carefully. Do not speed and also increase the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.
"We would also like to advise people not to take a chance and drive through any large puddles or try to cross bridges that may be flooded," he said.
Mckenzie is urging pedestrians to be safe as well.
"If you have to walk to school or work and you have to cross what used to be a small river which is now flooding we would like to advise people to rather not take the chance at crossing it. Even if it does not look that deep, it could be strong and wash you away," he said.
Meanwhile, localised flooding has been reported in many parts of the province with some roads and bridges underwater.
The KZN Provincial Government says it will visit affected parts of the province to conduct assessments.
Lennox Mabaso, with the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs says there is a huge congestion and they are so far grateful motorists are being cautious on roads.
