The RTI's Zinhle Mngomezulu says except for officers are keeping a close eye on flooding on the N2 Southbound in the vicinity of Gateway...there are currently no road closures on any major routes.

"There were road closures from yesterday whereby we saw the roads being closed to traffic due to snow. However, we closed the road today for the cleanup and to remove the snow on the roadway. That's why we have all the roads opened to traffic," she said.

Mngomezulu is however urging motorists headed home and to other destinations to be extra cautious as many roads are flooded.

"Road safety is a shared responsibility and [motorists] should work with us in order to keep our roads safe. We urge motorists to exercise caution. Things like switching the lights on and keeping a safe following distance is advised," she said.

The SA Weather Service says the cold, rainy and snowy conditions are expected to go on until Wednesday in most parts of the province.

Weather Forecaster Thandiwe Gumede says strong winds from Margate towards Durban can also be expected
