Zahara threatens to sue Somizi and the SAMAs over bar joke

Zahara is not happy about a joke Somizi Mhlongo made while hosting the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) and intends suing for defamation of character. 

While the singer did not attend Saturday's ceremony, word got to her that Somizi referenced her alleged drinking problems while making a bar joke. 

Somizi reportedly joked that Zahara was enjoying the free bar on offer. 

The audience might have had a good laugh at the singer's expense, but it looks like Somizi's joke could turn out to be an expensive one for him, and SAMA officials. 

Zahara took to Instagram to let her followers know that she will be suing them for "deformation" of character.

Auto correct aside, we think Somizi got the message loud and clear. 

"I only wish what I heard apon my return from Swaziland #BushfireFestival this past weekend about what Somizi said at the SAMAS is not true! because if he did I am Suing Somizi and the SAMAs for deformation of character i am tired of this," wrote. 

Zahara has previously been accused of being a heavy drinker,  and reports suggested was admitted to rehab.

But the singer has vehemently denied that she has a drinking problem. 

Somizi is not the first person Zahara has threatened to sue over substance abuse accusations. 

She threatened to sue True Love officials for R3-million after the magazine unveiled its January issue.  

While Zahara looked great on the cover, she was not happy with the caption used for her interview included the word "drugs". 

The award-winning musician said she did not talk about drugs in the issue, and was tired of her brand being associated with drugs and alcohol. 

Somizi can take comfort in the fact that despite her threats, Zahara is yet to sue True Love. 

Twitter users are showing Zahara no sympathy online. They accused her of not being able to take a joke!
