This woman’s Barbie obsession cost her R1m
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Even the most frugal of parents is likely
to spend thousands of rands buying their children toys in their lifetime.
But no expense will come close to how much this American woman spent on her Barbie obsession.
Los Angeles resident Azusa Sakamoto has spent a whopping $70,000 on her love of all things Barbie. That’s around R1-million!
The 34-year-old has turned her home into a Barbie shrine that will rival any child’s collection.

Azusa says she first became obsessed with Barbie as a teenager when she bought herself a cute lunchbox.
Since then she has collected 60 Barbie bags (which cost her $6,500), 145 dolls ($5,000) and 40 pairs of shoes ($2,500) in honour of Barbie.
She even has a Barbie themed kitchen, toilet, and bedroom.
As if that wasn’t enough, Azusa also resembles a living doll with pink blush and blonde hair.
And of course, it gets better - or worse depending on how you look at it. Azusa describes herself as an LA-based Barbie-ish nail artist, taking her obsession with her to work.
Sadly, her real life Ken is nowhere to be seen. Mmm, we wonder why that could be?
