Watch: Kelly Clarkson nails Whitney Houston's 'I Will Always Love You'

Kelly Clarkson's performance of Whitney Houston's 1992 classic, 'I Will Always Love You', brought Dolly Parton to tears. 

The former 'American Idol' winner sang the song at the recent ACM Awards, which is also known as the Academy of Country Music Awards. Kelly was paying tribute to Dolly on the night. 

'I Will Always Love You' was originally recorded by the 76-year-old country star in 1973. Whitney's version was recorded for 'The Bodyguard' soundtrack. 

Whitney's song was a worldwide success and spent 14 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. ACM shared a clip of Kelly's amazing performance on Twitter.

Dolly, who hosted Sunday night's ACM Awards, joined Kelly on stage after the performance and couldn't stop singing her praises. 

"I know that Whitney is smiling down on us tonight, so thank you very much — she would be proud of that. I was backstage trying not to cry my false eyelashes off — slinging snot in every direction and tears. But anyway, that was an amazing job!" People magazine quoted the 'Jolene' hitmaker as saying.
