US celebs massively exceed water limit despite drought

California officials are calling out some of the state's biggest celebrities for using excessive water during a drought. 

According to the Los Angeles Times, several stars including Kim Kardashian, Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union, and Sylvester Stallone have all exceeded their monthly water allowances by 100s of thousands of gallons.

Kim reportedly exceeded her limit for her two adjoining properties by 232,000 gallons of water in June. That's more than 870 thousand litres! 

Thank the stars she doesn't have a jacuzzi!

The average person reportedly uses 3,000 gallons a month. Kim's older sister, Kourtney Kardashian, also came under fire for her water use. 

'The Kardashians' star's home in Calabasas exceeded her water limit by 101,000 gallons in June. 

Comedian Kevin Hart's 26-acre Calabasas property used an additional 117,000 gallons, while actor Sylvester Stallone and his wife Jennifer Flavin used 195,000 extra gallons in May and 239,000 gallons in June.

Gabriel Union and her husband have released a statement saying they intend to make a better effort to conserve water in the future. The couple used an additional 489,000 gallons of water (1,8-million litres) in May. They exceeded their limit by 90,000 gallons in June. 

The couple blamed a pool issue for their shocking water usage. 

"We have been doing everything we can to rectify the situation and will continue to go to extensive lengths to resolve the issue. We have replaced all parts of our pool system that [have] to do with water flow and leakage in addition to converting to synthetic grass and drought-tolerant plants to reduce our water usage," they told the Times.

A few weeks ago, celebrities were put on blast for using their private jets to take flights that last just a few minutes.

Taylor Swift and the Kardashian family were some of the worst offenders on the list. 

The 'Shake It Off' hitmaker's plane has reportedly made 170 trips since January.  Kim Kardashian used her $150 million private jet - nicknamed Kim Air - to make trips that lasted less than 20 minutes. 

Her little sister, Kylie Jenner, was also slammed for taking short flights in her private plane. She reportedly used her plane to take a three-minute flight from Camarillo to Van Nuys in California. It would take her just 39 minutes to drive between the two places.
