The Undertaker vs a shark! Yip, that happened...

It looks like even sharks are afraid of WWE wrestler Mark Calaway aka The Undertaker. The 58-year-old is making headlines after he had an interesting encounter with a shark.

He was on holiday with his wife, fellow wrestler Michelle McCool - yes, that is her real surname in case you were wondering - when they spotted a nurse shark swimming close to the beach.

Granted, it was not a Great White, but it had teeth nonetheless, so what The Undertaker did next can only be described as a moment of pure bravery.

He lunged for the shark to protect his wife who nearly fainted at the sight of the 'Jaws'-like creature. The Undertaker then wrestled the scary fish until it finally decided to swim away.

Well, that didn't really happen, but the real story is just as interesting.

The shark turned out to be no match for the 'Deadman' who stared him (or her) down.

Michelle explained that she was chilling by the beach when she noticed something lurking in the water.

"I was simply enjoying a book on the beach when this “vegetation” looked a lot like a shark…..so I text hubby @undertaker [shark emoji]. Kinda digging that last picture …A LOT😍#myprotector," she captioned a video shared on Instagram and Twitter.

She added that it was "just a big, beautiful nurse shark…not that my sweet  @undertaker knew that when he came out".

The couple's fans took to the comments section of her Instagram post to say that they were not shocked at all that The Undertaker faced a shark with no fear.

"The shark didn't want to go one on one with The Undertaker!!" one wrote.

Another added: "Only the deadman can were all black to the beach & scare off a shark."

Nurse Sharks

As scary as the encounter might appear to some, nurse sharks rarely ever attack swimmers.

According to National Geographic, "Nurse sharks are slow-moving bottom-dwellers and are, for the most part, harmless to humans. However, they can be huge—up to 14 feet—and have very strong jaws filled with thousands of tiny, serrated teeth, and will bite defensively if stepped on or bothered by divers who assume they're docile".

Nonetheless, nurse sharks are only responsible for a handful of unprovoked attacks.

But who are we to downplay a husband's gallant efforts to protect his wife?
