‘UFO’ clouds spotted in Cape Town

Everyone on social media was buzzing about the ‘UFO’ clouds that
took over the sky in Cape Town this past weekend. These pictures are pretty
amazing.
If you have never heard of the term called ‘Lenticular cloud’ don’t worry – many South Africans also didn’t know what it was when it took over the sky in Cape Town this past weekend.
Lenticular clouds form when high winds blow over rough terrain, such as mountains and valleys.
Residents in Cape Town spotted Lenticular clouds on Sunday afternoon and did what any normal human being would do – snap a pic of it!
Geoff Batch shared his pictures with us he said the first thing he thought was ‘The cloud resembled something of an early tornado.’
Another resident, Lianne Byrne, said she thought 'it was the movie Independence Day. I was expecting alien life any second to descend onto the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town'
