Trevor Noah wins big at the Webby Awards

'The Daily Show With Trevor Noah' won a total of seven awards at the 2023 Webbys.
South African comedian Trevor Noah was officially crowned the 'Best Web Personality/Host' at the 27th annual Webby Awards.
The awards ceremony was held in New York City on Monday.
"Wow, what an honour! Thank you!" Trevor tweeted. The 39-year-old won the award for his segment, 'Between the Scenes'.

'The Daily Show With Trevor Noah' won several other awards including one for its 'America’s Door Problem' segment.
The segment highlights the scourge of gun violence in the US. It won the 'Best Comedy, General Video (Video)' award.

The Webby Awards is considered the "leading international award honouring excellence on the Internet".
Other winners include musicians SZA, Rihanna, and Doja Cat. SZA was named the 'Webby Artist of the Year'. Rihanna's 'Savage x Fenty Show Vol. 4.' win the 'People’s Voice' award.
Doja Cat's collaboration with Taco Bell earned her the 'Best Influencer/Creator Endorsement' award.
The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences announced the winners on April 25 - weeks before the actual ceremony took place.
Lizzo, BTS, Harry Styles, Blackpink, Serena Williams, Tracee Lee Ellis, and 'Black Panther' star Lupita Nyong’o were also featured on the Class of 2023 winners list.
Former US president Barack Obama was a 'People's Voice' winner on the night. His team was honoured for the 'Barack Obama x ATTN: – The Power of Your Vote in 2022' social campaign and 'Pod Save America: Obama’s Advice For Democrats' in the ' Featured Guest, Individual Episodes (Podcasts)' category.
All the winners who attended Monday night's ceremony had to give a five-word speech.
"The internet scares me. Thanks," SZA said while accepting her award.

Trevor's Webby Award is the second big gong he has received this year.
He became the second comedian to win the Erasmus Prize in March 2023. Charlie Chaplin is the only other humourist to receive the award in the organisation's 65-year history.
Trevor has been focusing on his stand-up shows since bidding farewell to 'The Daily Show' in 2022.
He has 10 upcoming shows in America before heading to Germany in June and then France in July. Trevor will also be returning to South Africa for shows in Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg.
