A mother broke down in tears after learning that her daughter’s pre-school teacher would save her little girl’s life.
Pre-school teacher Beth Battista discovered that one of her pupils, four-year-old Lyla, was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition in 2015, according to Inside Edition.
Lyla’s mother, Dena Carryen, and the rest of her family did all they could to find a living kidney donor for her, but had no success until an angel on earth, in the form of her teacher, stepped in to help.
Dena was called to her daughter’s school earlier this month under the guise that she needed to train a new teacher on how to deal with Lyla’s condition.
“So I show up at the school, and Lyla's two current teachers are there, and they tell me the new teacher is on her way. And then they give me a present,” she said in a Facebook post.
Beth handed Dena a wrapped box with a special message inside.
“I may just be her teacher now, but soon a little piece of me will be with Lyla forever. I’m Lyla’s kidney donor.”
An emotional Dena immediately broke down in tears of joy.
The tear-jerking moment was caught on camera, and Dena had no idea she was being recorded.
“Are you sure? Really?” Dena can be heard asking the teacher, who nods yes.
She says she is forever thankful to Beth.
“Many people think teachers are heroes. Beth Battista is more than our hero; she is our miracle,” said on Facebook.
