Tamaryn Green's Miss Universe costume ruffles feathers
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
"That is the ugliest dress I've ever seen," Miss SA fans say about her Miss Universe costume.
South Africans are not feeling the national costume Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green will wear to the Miss Universe pageant.
The 24-year-old unveiled two of the dresses she will be wearing during next month's pageant in Bangkok, Thailand.
Her national costume was inspired by SA's national bird, the Blue Crane.
The long-sleeved costume has a feather collar and train - which has been described as a tail by some. The outfit also has a headgear made to look like a bird as well.
Social media users slammed the look from head-to-toe. "That is disgustingly horrible..." an Instagram user wrote.
One woman begged pageant coach Werner Wessels to step in. Werner helped Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters win the Miss Universe title in 2017.
"@werner_wessels @melindabam pleeeeeease guys don't send our queen to Thailand with this National Costume she deserves better!! She is so beautiful and she is the frontrunner to take the crown from Demi!!! This is just setting het up for failure."

Some Instagram users felt the costume would hold Tamaryn back at the pageant.
"This is such a beautiful woman but guys this is such an epic fail...honestly this is setting her up for failure...please please reconsider!!"

But the Cape Town resident's second outfit, a black dress designed by Galluzzi e Gini, was on point.
Tamaryn also showed off a neckpiece she helped design that was inspired by her hometown.
"This is my National Gift to the Universe. It was designed by myself and the @JFriedman1933 team to showcase my love for South Africa. Featuring Cape Town/Paarl(home) elements: Table Mountain, rain droplets for new blessings and our beloved Madiba. Read below for more details," she wrote on Twitter.

Here's what social media users thought of Tamaryn's Miss Univers looks.
That is the ugliest dress I've ever seen. The headgear is also ridiculous. If Tamaryn Green helped design this then obviously her talents do not lie in design. Get rid of it otherwise you will be laughed off the stage and SA will be a laughing stock of the world.
