South African actors shine at 'Black Panther' premiere

Actors Connie Chiume, and Atandwa and John Kani flew South Africa's flag high at the Black Panther movie premiere in LA.
It's almost time for one of 2018's most anticipated movies to hit the big screen.
Marvel's 'Black Panther' had its world premiere on Monday, and some of South Africa's talented actors attended.
Veteran actor John Kani, and his son Atandwa, dressed in traditional attire for the Los Angeles premiere.
They wore a local designer, Maxhosa by Laduma, on the red-carpet.
Both John and Atandwa star in the blockbuster. John plays Wakanda chieftain, T'Chaka, while Atandwa plays his son.
It was originally thought that Atandwa played a younger version of T'Chaka.
John recently revealed that he convinced Marvel to make isiXhosa the language spoken by the Wakanda people.
"The director and I were challenged with coming up with ideal thing to say to my son, played by my son in real life, Atandwa, in-line with the plot of the film. It had to be in the native language of 'Wakanda'. I chose to say something isiXhosa in which the director and everyone on set loved; we need that, the director said," he told Move! magazine.
Actress Connie Chiume, who plays a mining tribe elder in the movie, was also at the premiere.
'Black Panther', which stars Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B. Jordan, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, and Forest Whitaker, is expected to make a whopping $100-million during its opening weekend at the North American box office.

The movie will be released in America on February 16 as part of a "cross-nation release" that includes several countries in Africa, including South Africa. The move is a first for a Disney film.
