Sorisha Naidoo: The real Jozi housewife
Updated | By Staff Writer
Sorisha Naidoo, wife of billionaire businessman Vivian Reddy, has agreed to join the cast of South Africa's very own 'Real Housewives of Johannesburg' reality show.
Controversially known for her penchant for skin-lightening cream, as a former radio presenter, and for her role as Nadia Narain in 'Scandal!', Sorisha made a move into a more corporate environment and now runs three businesses.
According to the Sunday Tribune, Sorisha will be joining the cast of six successful women around which the Jozi version of the popular American reality show will revolve. The SA adaptation of the reality show will, however, reportedly differ from the more salacious US version and focus on the hard work and achievements of the chosen females.
Speaking to the publication, Sorisha said she is excited for people to see that she doesn't really deserve her reputation as idle gold-digger.
"Some people think I'm a rich, spoilt woman with 500 credit cards at my disposal, but they will get to see the real me," she said.
She, however, admitted that she's also nervous about her unscripted appearance in the show.
"Nothing will be doctored," said Sorisha.
"What if I say the wrong thing? I can't take it back. But I will be myself."
The former Miss India South Africa also added that she was initially reluctant to sign on, but that the show's producer, Archie Tigere, eventually convinced her.
"I was approached to appear on other reality shows, but I turned them down. When Archie called about this show in August, I also refused," she explained.
"He reassured us the show was not meant to be scandalous or dig up dirt. It's about successful women who've made it big in a man's world, which is the main reason I signed up.
"Archie has both feet on the ground and I like that."
Tigere has so far confirmed that image consultant and marketing manager Nazli Delport, former 'Come Dine With Me' contestant Puleng Mash-Spies, and Kendra Saunders will feature in the show alongside Sorisha, with the names of the remaining two women still to be revealed.
