"Spoil her with a million flowers whilst she can still smell them not only for the first when she’s no more," Somizi wrote about his mom in 2018.
Somizi Mhlongo has shared some of his fondest memories with his mother Mary Twala following her death on Saturday.
The veteran actress, who has appeared in films such as 'Hopeville', 'Vaya', and 'Sarafina!', passed away in hospital on what would have been her late husband Ndaba Mhlongo's birthday.
She was 80 years old.
Somizi said losing his mother "hurt like hell" but he takes comfort in knowing that she "lived life to the fullest".
The media personality shared video clips of happy moments with "the phenomenal superstar" that is his mother.
One clip was taken on their way to Somizi's traditional wedding ceremony in September last year.

Some of South Africa's biggest stars paid tribute to the iconic actress on Twitter.
"Your best friend and kindred spirit. A love tailored just for you. We all bore witness to the boldness of this love. She will tell many tales on the other side of the wonderful life you gave each other as she sat front row to witness it all. The lights will never dim. An ICON," actress Nomzamo Mbatha wrote.
Former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela told Somizi the nation was mourning with him.
"A legend in her own right, that was Mama Mary Twala. Your loss is shared by the nation and all art lovers your mom’s work reached."
