They call it the ultimate relationship test. Couples are sent to an 'island' to hang out with (sexy) single people in order to test the strength of their relationships.

'Temptation Island South Africa' is coming to a TV screen near you and based on the first-look trailer, things get messy.

According to Showmax, the reality show "follows four couples at a pivotal time in their relationship, where they must mutually decide if they are ready to commit to one another for the rest of their lives — or go their separate ways".

The show is based on the Banijay-owned hit reality format.

"Together, the couples experience the ultimate holiday in paradise, where they join single men and women, all looking for love. There, they live the 'single life, in a test that is meant to help answer their most difficult questions about their relationship".

The trailer also introduced us to the four couples who will be taking part. One couple has been dating on and off for 13 years!

Media personality Phat Joe will host the reality show.

"Phat Joe is a household name in South Africa and brings two decades of experience, including hosting reunions for both The Real Housewives of Durban and Season 2 of the Johannesburg edition.

"He’s experienced the rollercoaster of love in every shape and form, from being a playboy to having high-profile relationships, to being heartbroken by a partner’s untimely death, to marrying the love of his life and starting a family. As someone who knows the games of love and temptation firsthand, we believe he’s the perfect host for Temptation Island South Africa," Showmax said.

'Temptation Island South Africa' will premiere on Showmax on August 26. There will be a new episode every Thursday until November 4, 2021.
