“It’s hard to be in pain when everyone is celebrating,” says Sho Madjozi.
Sho Madjozi made an emotional return to the stage this week following the tragic death of her sister.
Makhanani ‘Nyeleti’ Manganye died in a car accident in Limpopo on December 17.
Sho Madjozi took a break from social media and cancelled some of her appearances while dealing with the family tragedy.
The ‘John Cena’ singer returned to social media on December 29 to pay tribute to her “sweet girl”.
“When I heard the news I wanted to stop doing everything (and I did). So much of what I do is to give her and mama a better life. So I didn’t see the point in carrying on,” she wrote.

The musician added that after the funeral she thought she “would never come out of that hole”, but the messages she received from her fans helped her during the difficult period.
“I am incredibly sad about all the things I won’t be able to do with my sister. I am heartbroken for my mother in particular. But I’m grateful for the love you guys showed me without even knowing how much I needed it.”
She revealed in another tweet that she named her little sister when she was born.
“When she was born my mama asked me what we should call her and I said Nyeleti which means ‘star’.”
Sho Madjozi was one of the performers at Afropunk Joburg this week.
She dedicated her performance to Nyeleti and had a special message for those who had to go through a similar heartbreak during the festive season
“This is the first time I’m performing since then...this is all for you baby girl... It’s hard to be in pain when everyone is celebrating and you look around and feel that you are absolutely alone. But you are not alone.”
Sho Madjozi also set the stage on fire at the ‘Fact Durban Rocks’ concert a few days later.
“@ShoMadjozi your energy is on another level, I love you. #FactDurbanRocks,” one concertgoer tweeted.
