Jennie Garth has described her longtime friend as "courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous".
The cast of 'Beverly Hills, 90210' is mourning the death of their former co-star Shannen Doherty.
The actress died on July 13 after a years-long battle with cancer. She was 53. Shannen played high school student Brenda Walsh in the popular 90s teen drama.
Jennie Garth, who starred as Kelly Taylor, remained friends with Shannen long after the show ended. She shared a special tribute to the actress on Instagram.
"I am still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of my long time friend Shannen, the woman I have often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known. Our connection was real and honest. We were so often pitted against each other but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship which was one built on mutual respect and admiration," she wrote.
Jennie described Shannen as "loving and generous".
"She was courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories. My heart breaks for her family and Bowie and all the people who loved her."
