"It was a dark phase," says Priyanka about the depression she felt after her nose surgery went horribly wrong.
Actress Priyanka Chopra has revealed the "deep depression" she suffered after a botched nose surgery.
The 40-year-old opened up about the experience during a recent interview on 'The Howard Stern Show'.
Priyanka said she underwent the surgery shortly after winning the Miss World 2000 beauty pageant.
Offers from Bollywood bosses started rolling in after her big win, but her career almost ended before it even started because of the botched surgery.
The former beauty queen told Howard Stern that "it was a dark phase" in her life. Priyanka explained that her doctors recommend that she get a nasal polyp - a noncancerous growth- removed from her nose.
She underwent surgery but her surgeon made a big mistake. He accidentally shaved off the bridge of her nose, which caused it to collapse.
“This thing happens, and my face looks completely different, and I went into a deep, deep depression,” she said.
Priyanka said she lost three movie roles after her botched surgery.

But her now-late father, Dr Ashok Chopra, convinced her to go back under the knife again to correct her botched nose job.
"I was terrified of that, but he was like, ‘I will be in the room with you.' He held my hands through it and helped me build back my confidence.”
