TV personality Bontle Modiselle has been forced to apologise to her fans after "faking" her engagement and wedding to rapper Priddy Ugly.

The couple's fans could not contain their excitement a few weeks ago when they posted pictures on Instagram of what appeared to be their engagement.

A few days later Bontle shared a picture of the pair dressed in traditional wedding attire.

That was soon followed by a picture of their white wedding.

Scores of her followers congratulated her on her marriage, despite Bontle being vague in the captions about the details of their union.

A few days ago, it was revealed that it was all one big publicity stunt for La Sauce's new music video, 'I Do'. B

As if that was not bad enough, Bontle now says that the couple won't be saying "I do" in real life anytime soon.

Her fans are less than impressed with the stunt, with many saying they feel played.

"Bontle and Priddy Ugly are defs the biggest scammers of 2017. Wow," one Twitter user posted.

Rapper Riky Rick was just as annoyed.

"So you saying the wedding wasn’t real? Cmon fam," he commented on one of Priddy Ugly's posts about the video.

Bontle took to Instagram following the backlash to apologise to her followers, telling her followers they should take comfort in knowing that they are still a happy couple.

Eh?

"Apologies to those who feel disappointed right now but we hope you find solace in us being together and happy," she wrote.

More than genuinely loving the song, we loved being the representation of what it advocates - a young, black love that have the intention of solidifying their lifetime commitment to each other, represented here as marriage. We understood the implications of deciding on how to best go about making the greatest impact in encouraging a conversation of love, something that doesn’t make the headlines, and so we were bold in our approach. Everything that we posted were all images leading up to the video, we just hadn’t announced that yet. Those who know us personally, who were all notified and prepared prior to the video dropping, know that we are not the type of folk to let out the details of our personal lives like that. People know of us being together but do not know anything beyond that, particularly the state of our relationship. That privacy remains true for our engagement and marriage which will remain our private matter. Those who need to know, will know. Apologies to those who feel disappointed right now but we hope you find solace in us being together and happy. Major love to those who laughed it off and found it brilliant. Thank you to those who give continued support. Reaction and interpretation is open to anything. Everyone is open to decide how they feel about it. We, however, are happy and proud of it. It’s huge. It’s beautiful. It’s really all love. ✊❤ Watch @lasaucesa ft @amandablacksa - 'I Do' here: https://youtu.be/ISNm4knGl-k 🙏

Priddy Ugly reposted her apology, while plugging the new music video. Shameless!

It's not the fist time a rapper has used his love life to promote an upcoming video. Earlier this year, AKA and Bonang faked their break-up to create buzz around his new track, 'Caiphus Song'.

"If there's a question of my heart, you've got it. It don't belong to anyone but you." 💎 👑 x 👑
