Parks and Recreation executive producer Harris Wittels has been found dead aged 30.
According to TMZ, the writer was discovered lying on his couch at his home yesterday and the gossip website claims he died from "a possible drug overdose" after hearing from law enforcement sources who told them there was drug paraphernalia found in his home.
The sources also told the publication there were no signs of "trauma" on his body.
A Los Angeles Police Detective representative told The Hollywood Reporter that Harris' assistant found his body and the site reports that police responded to a 911 call about a "possible overdose" yesterday afternoon.
Despite this, Harris - who had been to rehab twice and had openly spoken about his battles with drug addiction - claimed he was clean and sober while performing one of his stand-up comedy gigs at Los Angeles' comedy theatre The Meltdown on Wednesday night.
Following the news several stars have paid tribute to Wittels, who also wrote for The Sarah Silverman Program.
Sarah was particularly devastated by the news and posted a lengthy tribute to the comedian in which she praised his honesty but admitted she is "so mad" at him.
She wrote on Twitter: "He was my baby. I just keep thinking of superman flying backwards around the earth. I wish I could do that. I'm so mad at you Harris
"You should know that Harris was brilliant beyond compare. That his imagination was without limit. That he loved comedy more than anything.
"That his heart was big and he FELT hard. That he was someone who would reach out to tell you he was thinking of you for no particular reason
"That he was honest even if it was gonna p**s u off or make him look sh**ty. He told the truth. Even when it was ugly. Even when he lied."
Hollywood actor Ben Stiller wrote: "Respect to Harris Wittels."
NCB's 'Late Night' host Seth Meyers tweeted: "Such heartbreaking news about Harris Wittels. A really funny guy."
