Olivia Rodrigo is "heartbroken" by a potential decision by the US Supreme Court that could affect abortion rights.

Grammy Award-winner, Olivia Rodrigo, is weighing in on a leaked draft written by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito regarding abortion.

According to Politico, the majority of the court is prepared to strike down the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.

The draft majority opinion allegedly labeled the decision - which protected women's right to have an abortion -  "egregiously wrong from the start."

One justice stated: "We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people's elected representatives."

Roe v. Wade allows for women to have an abortion up until the 24-week mark at which point fetal viability outside of the womb is more likely.  As a result, states could regulate but not ban abortion.

If the Supreme Court is successful in overturning the decision, some states will be able to ban abortion outright.

Olivia has joined scores of women's rights activists in slamming the draft opinion.  According to NME, Olivia says she is heartbroken by the court's potential decision.

“Our bodies should never be in the hands of politicians. I hope we can raise our voices to protect our right to have a safe abortion, which is a right that so many people before us have worked so hard to get," the 19-year-old told the audience at one of her shows in Washington this week.

Several other stars also joined the 'Drivers Licence' hitmaker in speaking out against the draft opinion.

George Takei, who played Hikaru Sulu in Star Trek, says "they have gone too damn far".

"Those motherf*****s really did it. First they came for Black voters, then they targeted LGBTQ+ families. Now, women of America, they’re overruling Roe v. Wade. We have to unite and strike back. Take to the streets. Overwhelm them at the ballot box," he tweeted.

Many also believe that overturning Roe v. Wade would put many women at risk as they will be forced to turn to illegal abortions.

"Forced birth? Not really. I lived through the abortion ban years. The fact is that there wont be fewer abortions Women will continue to get the abortion they need. Except those abortions wont be safe. Many, many women and girls will be mutilated or die," Mia Farrow tweeted.
