Nick Cannon "wouldn’t be alive" if it weren't for Mariah Carey

The father of 12 says Mariah was his rock when he was diagnosed with lupus.
Seven years after their marriage came to an end, Nick Cannon is still singing Mariah Carey's praises.
The 42-year-old revealed in a recent interview with Steven Bartlett on 'The Diary Of A CEO' podcast that Mariah was by his side when he was diagnosed with lupus in 2012.
“She was my rock, man. She went hard. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for how hard she went, you know, with the doctors, with me, my stubbornness," he admitted.
Nick praised the five-time Grammy Award winner for being loving enough to take on his health challenges.
"She was the perfect helpmate, the perfect matriarch, the perfect mom, the perfect wife in those scenarios".
He added that it was a difficult period for them, but it brought them closer together.
According to Mayo Clinic, "Lupus is a disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs (autoimmune disease). Inflammation caused by lupus can affect many different body systems — including your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs."
Stars such as Selena Gomez, Toni Braxton, Lady Gaga, and Seal have also opened up about their experiences with lupus.

The former couple tied the knot in 2008 and called it quits in 2016. Since then, Nick has welcomed 10 more children with five other women.

Despite moving on with multiple women, Nick still has a soft spot for Mariah. He spoke about having a crush on the singer when he was a young boy earlier this year.
"I was 12 years old with Mariah Carey pictures on my wall, and that becomes my wife. And the fact that she's the coolest person I ever met. I get a lot of this delightful disposition from her. She's just always happy, always doing for others. No matter what's happening in life. I'm like, 'Wow, a person can really operate like that and don't allow negative energy into their space.'" he told The Shade Room in March.
