Nick Cannon working on getting a child psychology degree
The father of 12 is taking his education to the next level in order to understand his children better.
Nick Cannon is going back to school. The 42-year-old has revealed that he is currently pursuing a master's degree in child psychology.
He believes the degree will come in handy.
"I'm in that conversation every day. Like oh, the presence of a father and how much will they need you and the Freudian aspect of reverting back to your childhood trauma, or the lack thereof and, you know, nature vs nurture. These are conversations I have several times every single day," Nick said in an interview on 'The Language of Love with Dr Laura Bermane' podcast.
Dr Berman asked Nick if he was having those conversations with naysayers or his baby mamas.
"Nah, not naysayers. But I'm like, I'm living, you know like, whether in therapy on my own or even just like wanting to make sure that every single child has what they need, developmentally and emotionally. I'm studying the brain and at what point does sensory matter?"
Nick already has a bachelor's degree in Criminology and Administration of Justice, which he obtained from Howard University in 2021.
The actor and presenter started attending classes at the university in 2016. He says he did it to inspire his children.
"I was always an advocate for education, and they were like, 'Dad you didn't even go to college'. And I was like, 'Well. watch me.'"

'The Masked Singer' host also hopes to obtain a doctorate in divinity. He considers himself a spiritual person and has allegedly had experiences with a "spirit" that led to him receiving downloads and messages.
Nick says in those moments of communing with a spirit, he heard that he is going to be a father of many and his offspring are going to do great things.
"As much as I was open to every single child that I have, I can't say the majority of them were planned... If you would have told me in 2012 when I was still married and just diagnosed with Lupus that 10 years from now that I would have 12 children, I would be like 'F*** out of here!'"
Nick welcomed his 12th child in December 2022 with model Alyssa Scott. They named their daughter Halo Marie.
Halo is their second child together. Their son Zen tragically passed away in December 2021 when he was just five months old. Both Nick and Alyssa recently celebrated Zen on what would have been his second birthday.
"A difficult day that turned into a Beautiful Night… We will forever celebrate Zen’s light! I love you So," Nick captioned a picture from a beach celebration.
Alyssa wrote: "Happy heavenly birthday Zen. When I get present enough, when I do what feels honest and true.. Somehow the moment leads me right to you. Me and the girls were able to see you in so many ways today.We love you for eternity."
