Newlyweds request more money from wedding guest
Updated | By Poelano Malema
A woman has been left “gobsmacked” after she was told her wedding gift of R2,000 was not enough.
Weddings can be quiet costly, that is why it is not surprising that one couple asked their wedding guests to give them gifts in the form of cash.
With life being so expensive and people doing all they can to make ends meet, you would think a R2,000 cash gift would be appreciated by the newlyweds. Well, not in this case.
The couple has caused outrage after they emailed one of their wedding guests to not only complain about their gift being too small, but even going as far as to ask for more.
The guest, who calls herself "puzzled and pi**ed off", wrote to Mumsnet to vent her frustration and seek advice after the demanding couple told her the R2,000 cash gift “didn't seem to match the warmth of your good wishes on our big day”.
The post has received over a thousand responses, with many advising her to cancel the cheque.
In the end, anonymous chose to respond to the mail with “I assume this was some sort of mistake?”, to which unsurprisingly, the couple never responded.
Have you ever gone out of your way to buy someone a gift, but then they demanded more?
