Nadia Nakai shares the last messages she sent AKA

Nadia Nakai is reflecting on the final message she sent Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes before he was shot and killed in Durban. The WhasApp messages show AKA updating Nadia about his day. 

"Taking off baby. Love you," he wrote on Friday, February 10, a few minutes before 13:30. 

Nadia replied: "I love you too, baby. Be safe." 

AKA then messaged her to say that he landed and was headed to his hotel. The 'Company' rapper was set to perform at a club in Durban that night. 

It would be the last message he sent her before he was gunned down outside a restaurant on Florida Road just before 22:00. 

Nadia sent him several other messages just before 22:00. Her final message was at 22:15. AKA did not get to read her message.  

"The fact that these messages were never delivered because you were gone. [broken heart emoji]," Nadia captioned a screenshot of their final chat.

The past month has been understandably hard for Nadia and she has shared several pictures and videos of her time with AKA on Instagram. 

"Please can someone undo this," she captioned an image of them embracing at an event.  

AKA's mother, Lynn Forbes, commented: "It just doesn’t feel real at all."  DJ Zinhle, the mother of AKA's daughter, Kairo Forbes, also replied. 

"I’m so sorry Nadia," she wrote. 

The trio of women has been leaning on each other for support following AKA's death. Lynn has made it clear that Zinhle and Nadia will always be family. 

"I wish I could bring him back to you," she told Nadia. Lynn shared a picture of Zinhle and her husband, Bongani 'Mörda' Mohosana, sitting with members of the Forbes family. 

"Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. My wish is for every person out there to experience a family like ours …. it’s all love over here."

Kairo and Nadia were recently spotted spending quality time together. AKA's friend, Don Design, also joined them on the outing.

Don Design was one of the friends with AKA when he was shot dead. 

Their friend, celebrity chef Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane, was also killed in the shooting.
