Minnie Dlamini fangirls over Venus Williams: 'I literally can’t breathe'
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
"I remember being one of the only black kids on the court growing up," says Minnie after meeting Venus.
Minnie Dlamini had a fangirl moment when she met Venus Williams at a restaurant in Paris. She bumped into the tennis star at Le Dalí restaurant in Paris.
Minnie is in the 'City of Lights' for Paris Fashion Week.
“'I literally can’t breathe'. That is the message I sent to my family group as soon as I saw her. I tried really hard to tell her how much she and her sister [Serena Williams] mean to me. My dad made me and my late brother play tennis because of them and getting my provincial colours for tennis was one of my proudest moments, as I remember being one of the only black kids on the court growing up," the 31-year-old wrote on Instagram.
Minnie's brother, Khosini, died after suffering a brain aneurysm in 2019. She thanked Venus for being a "huge inspiration".
"I may not have become a professional tennis player but I am very much the woman I am today because of your influence in my childhood. Representation matters," the TV presenter added.

Minnie has spent the past few days in France with some of her friends. She attended Christian Louboutin's show at Paris Fashion Week and bumped into 'Mr Red Bottoms' himself.
She shared a video of herself chatting to the famous French designer after he showed off his AW22 collection. Christian is known for his famous red bottom shoes.
"Mr Red Bottom himself telling me all about his new AW22 collection," Minnie captioned a video with the designer.
Minnie also made an appearance on the Paris Fashion Week runway. "Walking #ParisFashionWeek for @essicajane_molebatsi was a dream. The #Noluthando collection brought the house," she wrote.
It's great to see Minnie smiling after a tough few months. The star revealed in February that she is divorcing her husband, Quinton Jones.
