Mistle-no! Mariah Carey fails in bid to be called the only 'Queen of Christmas'

Mariah Carey will not be able to exclusively use the 'Queen of Christmas' and 'Princess of Christmas' titles.
It looks like Mariah Carey won't be getting at least one item on her Christmas wish list this year. The US Trademark Trial and Appeal Board denied her request to trademark the 'Queen of Christmas' title.
According to Page Six, the board also ruled against her using 'Princess of Christmas' and 'QOC'.
Mariah, whose iconic single 'All I Want For Christmas' is a Christmas playlist staple, filed the trademark in March 2021. But two artists came forward to slam her attempt.
Grammy Award-winning artist Darlene Love took to Facebook in August to remind people that she had been considered the 'Queen of Christmas' long before Mariah.
"Is it true that Mariah Carey trade marked 'Queen of Christmas'? What does that mean that I can’t use that title? David Letterman officially declared me the Queen of Christmas 29 years ago, a year before she released 'All I want For Christmas Is You' and at 81 years of age I’m NOT changing anything. I’ve been in the business for 52 years, have earned it and can still hit those notes! If Mariah has a problem call David or my lawyer!!" she wrote on Facebook.
Singer Elizabeth Chan, who only sings Christmas songs, also objected to Mariah's trademark application. She too considers herself the 'Queen of Christmas'.
The US Trademark Trial and Appeal Board's decision means that both Elizabeth and Darlene can use the titles commercially.

Despite the setback, Mariah has a lot to look forward to this Christmas. She announced her 'Merry Christmas To All!' show dates last month.
The two-show holiday revue will be taking place in New York and Toronto in December. The 'Always Be My Baby' singer also released a Christmas-themed children's book.
'The Christmas Princess (The Adventures of Little Mariah)' was released on November 11.
According to the book's synopsis: "The Christmas Princess is an unforgettable holiday classic tale, told by Mariah Carey herself alongside Michaela Angela Davis and featuring beautiful illustrations by Fuuji Takashi. The Queen of Christmas introduces . . . Little Mariah!"
The singer also launched a bath and body collection just in time for the festive season.
She might not have a legal claim to the title, but Mariah is definitely the 'Queen of Christmas'!
