Man proposes to girlfriend after losing Facebook challenge
Updated | By East Coast Radio
A UK man jokingly told his girlfriend he
would pop the question if she got 489 likes on a post.
Rhys Green told his girlfriend, Hannah Tolley, that he would get down on one knee if a post she shared about a possible wedding got 489 likes, 499 comments, and 500 shares.
How romantic?
The couple, who have reportedly been dating for seven months, apparently got the idea for the weird challenge after seeing other posts from people who said they would get a puppy or laptop if they got a lot of likes on the social networking site, according to the Daily Mail.
Hannah then posted the following message on Facebook…
“Rhys has Just said if I do manage to get the likes comments n spares he set he will ask me to marry him live on Facebook’ [sic].”
Rhys did not think she would get the required likes, but not only did people from as far as Australia like the image, but Hannah also managed to get nearly 1,000 likes – double her target.
“I was really nervous. I really wanted to marry Rhys, so I was praying that people would respond. Thankfully they did, and within hours my status was being shared all over the world,” Hannah told the publication.
Rhys got down on one knee during a Facebook livestream after feeling he had a ‘moral obligation’ to carry out his end of the bargain.
The now also plan to livestream the wedding on Facebook as soon as they are done with their preparations.
What a time to be alive!
