Makhadzi's 'Kokovha' album reaches gold

The news comes after Apple Music announced the album as the most streamed Mzansi Female Album in SA in 2021.
Congratulations are in order for South African star Makhadzi.
The singer has just announced that her album, 'Kokovha', has reached Gold status.
Makhadzi shared a photo of herself holding the gold plaque.
She also shared that she is the first South African female artist to reach gold with online album sales.

"Kokovha album reached gold , iam proud to say iam the first female artist to reach gold in album not a single song. Thanks for your love," she wrote on Twitter.
"South African female artist to reach gold in album," she further explained.

In August, Apple Music announced that ‘Kokovha’ is the most streamed Mzansi Female Album in SA in 2021.
“To celebrate the achievements of South Africa’s female artists, Apple Music has also announced Lady Du, Makhadzi, DBN Gogo, Elaine and Shekhinah as the most streamed SA Female Artists, Kokovha by Makhadzi as the most streamed Mzansi Female Album and Dakiwe by Lady Du & DBN Gogo as the most streamed SA song from a female artist. Apple Music is also launching a Top Mzansi Women Playlist featuring the women who have dominated the charts so far,” Apple Music announced.

The album features the hit song, 'Kokovha'. It also has 'Murahu' and 'My Love', which features Master KG and Prince Benza.
Other artists featured on the album include Sho Madjozi, Mampintsha, Mr Brown, and Jah Prayzah.
It was released on 16 October 2020.
All Africa Music Awards
Makhadzi has received three nominations at the All Africa Music Awards.
- Artist of the year
- Best Artist, Duo or Group in African Electro
- Best Female Artist In Southern Africa.
"Aaa wee… can you believe this? We got 3 AFRIMA nominations. This is very big for me and a first, also it's an honour to get nominated along those legends. I appreciate everyone that's been supporting my music, Please register and Vote for me," wrote Makhadzi on Instagram.
