The 'Home Alone' star, who is a victim of child abuse, has changed his views on Father's Day since becoming a dad...
Macaulay Culkin is opening up about the "complicated relationship" he had with Father's Day.
June is dedicated to the amazing dads in our lives. On the third Sunday of the month, they are treated to breakfast in bed and are showered with gifts.
However, Father's Day is difficult for children—young and old—who didn't have the best father figure growing up.
Macaulay has previously described his father as a "bad man" who abused his family.
"He was abusive, physically and mentally — I can show you all my scars if I wanted to," BuzzFeed quoted him as saying on 'WTF with Marc Maron'.
The child star struggled with Father's Day, but things have changed since he became a dad.
Macaulay and his partner, 'The Suite Life of Zack & Cody' actress Brenda Song, have two children together.
They welcomed their first son in April 2021 and their second in December 2022.
The couple keep their children out of the spotlight and don't share pictures of their faces on social media.
MORE FROM EAST COAST RADIO:
The 'Home Alone' actor says Father's Day is all about his children.
"Since becoming a papa myself I’ve decided to reinvent the wheel. Other than getting an hour or two of extra sleep I try to make the day a celebration of my boys more than me. After all, they are the ones who made me a father (no offense to Brenda)," he wrote on Instagram.
The 43-year-old says the day might not be as special as other major holidays, but he tries to make it as special as possible for his kids.
"In our house Father’s Day isn’t held in as a high regard as birthdays or Christmas but it does mop the floor of such holidays as St. Patrick’s day, Valentine’s Day, and the 4th of July. I try to do fun things for the boys on Father’s Day. It’s a special day."
He might not have had a good relationship with his own father, but we are pretty sure Macaulay's children think he is the best dad in the world.
