Liesl Laurie: "Stop asking women if they are pregnant"

Stay out of people's wombs or you will get blocked.

Liesl Laurie is sick and tired of people on social media asking her if she is pregnant.

The former Miss South Africa took to Instagram to give a stern warning to people who can't stay out of other women's wombs.

"If you post any comment on my page alluding to pregnancy or any of that kind of thing, I am going to block you," she said in a video.

Liesl shared the video after posting a picture of herself at an event with her husband, Dr Musa Mthombeni

The couple wore matching blue outfits to the event, and it seems some people thought she looked pregnant. One person even went as far as saying that she was hiding her pregnancy.

Liesl said she can't understand why people are so comfortable commenting "inappropriate nonsense" about women being pregnant in 2023.

"We don't ask someone if they are pregnant. We don't ask someone if they want to have kids. We don't ask someone, 'When are you having a baby? You know you got married now.' We don't do that," she said.

The 32-year-old added that people should mind their own business and allow women to share their pregnancy news in their own time.

“Also, as women, our bodies go through so much. So no, Jennifer, I'm not hiding my pregnancy or pregnant.  I'm actually bloated because I'm on my period because that's what happens to women and you as a woman should understand that.”

Reaction

Many of Liesl's fans agreed with her remarks. Some also shared their own experiences.

"I once met a former high school mate at the salon and she asked, ‘When are you having a baby?’. My answer was never ask that ever again to any woman. You don’t know what people go through. Miscarriages are real, infertility issues are real as well; people must just mind their own businesses shame," one woman wrote.

Another woman added: "Mind the business that pays your bills. Stay out of people's wombs. Period."

One of Liesl's fans added other questions that should be included on the "don't ask" list.

"To add [to] the list, we also don't ask people the ff: when are you getting a job, when are you finishing your studies, when are you buying a house, when are you buying a car, when are losing weight and more other questions that may make any human being feel bad about themselves. It's totally none of your business."

Hear, hear to that!
