Leon Schuster thanks fans for support during "difficult" time
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
The comedian admits feeling "a bit depressed" after his latest health setback.
Leon Schuster feels thankful after being flooded with well wishes from his South African fans.
The 72-year-old has been recovering from an injury he sustained last year while shooting 'Mr Bones 3'. He fell off a van and hurt his back.
The actor was on the road to recovery when he suffered a second fall recently. Speaking to YOU magazine, Leon says the fall resulted in him needing a second back surgery.
“I got up confused and wanted to go to the toilet but I had no idea where I was I got up, wet my pants, stepped in the urine and fell on my back. Then I felt tremendous pain. I felt as if they could cut off my back and give the bones to the dogs. I just lay there and screamed."
The 'Oh Schucks... It's Schuster!' star is waiting to undergo another spinal surgery to tighten a loose screw on his lower back. He spends a lot of his time in bed and uses a cane to get around when he needs to.
Speaking to TshiaLIVE in a separate interview, Leon revealed: "I will live on painkillers for the rest of my life."

Despite the setback, he is looking forward to getting back to work when he is well enough to do so.
“I’m not in a good place, I’ll be honest with you. But I’m in a grateful place. And that’s why I try to lie here in a straight position and keep my spirits up with a bit of light-heartedness. I trust in the Lord and the doctors – these are my two sources of strength from which I draw my hope," he told YOU.
Leon's fans have taken to social media to wish him well.
"Good luck to you, Leon. Just remember you are a legend, and may the Lord stand by you in Jesus' name, Amen, and Hallelujah," one Instagram user wrote.
