Actress and singer Lea Michele opens up about the difficulties she experienced conceiving. The 37-year-old is expecting baby number two with husband, Zandy Reich.

Their first child, Ever Leo, was born in 2020.

Speaking to Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt’s podcast, 'BDA Baby', Lea revealed that she suffered multiple miscarriages before falling pregnant with her second child.

The former 'Glee' star was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) before falling pregnant with Ever. She was put on medication and underwent a procedure to remove some cysts, which made it easier for her to conceive naturally.

"Now that I had my PCOS under control, I was really hopeful that getting pregnant a second time would be easy for me."

However, when they started trying for baby #2, things didn't happen as they expected.

"We had two back-to-back very early failed pregnancies. I was just so shocked. I had never had a miscarriage before. The first one, I was like, ‘That was weird.’ When it happened again right away, I was like, ‘Wait a second. Something is wrong,'” she said.

She started working on her Broadway show, 'Funny Girl', and wondered if it was just not the right time to have a baby.

"It wasn’t until a little bit later and I had another, and I was actually working during the time, which was super challenging to be working and having to stand and give you everything to so many people and process what we were experiencing at the same time, which was very painful," Lea said.

She was diagnosed with endometriosis. "I would have never guessed that I had endometriosis from what I hear the symptoms are. I was having painful periods, but nothing too bad. I was having a ton of stomach issues, and I would have one day of extreme pain, but then I would be fine."

The actress had to undergo surgery and consult with fertility doctors.

"Fertility is very hard... I was put on so many drugs and medications and 1, 000 shots... It's really intense. Luckily, we were able to get pregnant," she said.
