Kim Kardashian slammed over Balenciaga ambassador deal

Kim Kardashian has been announced as the new brand ambassador of the luxury fashion house, Balenciaga. 

While 'The Kardashians' reality star is no doubt laughing all the way to the bank, social media users have slammed the move. 

They questioned why she would work with the brand again given its recent history. 

Balenciaga made headlines in 2022 when a clothing ad campaign featuring children went viral for all the wrong reasons.

The ad showed kids carrying or posing next to plush teddy bears that appeared to be wearing BDSM-style bondage attire. 

Another Balenciaga ad that came under scrutiny showed a bag resting on a desk with court papers scattered around it. One of the court papers referenced a 2008 Supreme Court about child pornography.

Kim, who previously worked with Balenciaga, addressed the shocking teddy bear photoshoot in a series of tweets. 

"As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society — period... 

"I appreciate Balenciaga’s removal of the campaigns and apology. In speaking with them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the issue and will take the necessary measures for this to never happen again... " she tweeted at the time. 

The aspiring lawyer added that she was "re-evaluating" her relationship with the brand. 

Kim and several family members, including model Kendall Jenner, continued to support and wear Balenciaga after the drama.

Fast forward to 2024 and Kim is clearly satisfied with the steps Balenciaga has taken to rectify its mistakes because she has decided to partner with the brand again. 

"For several years now, Balenciaga’s designs have been a part of my many looks – and some of my most iconic fashion moments... For me, this long-standing relationship is built on mutual trust and a commitment to doing what’s right. I’m excited about this next chapter for the brand and to become their ambassador," the 43-year-old said in a statement.

Social media users are furious with Kim for continuing to support Balenciaga. 

"Anything for a bag. Low integrity across the fashion house board..." one Instagram user said about the SKIMS founder.

Another user added: "'Hello my name is Kim, I don't have any personality or opinion, I just care about money and fame.'"

X (Twitter) users were equally harsh. "Kim Kar trashian is a sick satanic demon. Not only does she have no talent but has kids. She is now the ambassador for Balenciaga a documented pedo company," on X user wrote.

Another user tweeted: "Gross she really tried acting like she cared about what happened with Balenciaga I knew she was being fake."

A third person wrote: "So Kim Kardashian just was [named] Balenciaga new brand ambassador to already be a billionaire and take money from that company KNOWN what they did and she was one of the people who spoke out against them is the crazy part, but it says a lot about her character."
