Kim Kardashian details struggles with "painful" psoriasis

Kim Kardashian took to Instagram this week to give her 364-million followers an up-close-and-personal look at her struggle with psoriasis. 

"Not gonna lie this is painful. Not sure what my triggers are. I haven't changed my diet. I've tried everything! Psoriasis sucks," the 43-year-old captioned a video of a psoriasis flareup on her leg. 

Kim has been battling with psoriasis for more than a decade. She was first diagnosed in 2011.  

According to Mayo Clinic, "psoriasis is a skin disease that causes a rash with itchy, scaly patches, most commonly on the knees, elbows, trunk, and scalp".

Kim's psoriasis usually appears on her leg, but it seems to be spreading to other parts of her body.

"How crazy is my psoriasis right now? It’s all up my leg. I don’t know what’s happening... This is crazy. Now I can see it is going down my leg and up my leg and all up my thigh. So, I just know it is time to figure this out," she said.

Kim joked that her latest psoriasis is shaped like a heart.

"Wait, am I tripping or is my psoriasis in the shape of a heart – for Valentine’s Day? Do you guys see that? Kind of right? I think I totally see it... Lucky me I have a heart-shaped psoriasis for Valentine’s Day," she said.

Kim came under fire earlier this month for saying she uses tanning beds for psoriasis. 

The SKIMS founder showed off a tanning bed in her office while taking part in TikTok's popular 'Of Course' trend.

"I’m Kim Kardashian, of course I have a tanning bed and a red light bed in my office," she said. 

Several publications called Kim out, with Allure magazine urging 'The Kardashians' star not to normalise tanning beds as they allegedly are a “proven human carcinogen". 

Kim doubled down on her tanning bed use in a reply to the publication on X (formerly Twitter). 

"I have psoriasis and it really helps when it’s bad. But I don’t use it too often," she said.
