"Why does she like to buy memorabilia from dead famous people?"
Beauty mogul Kim Kardashian has forked out a whopping $197,453 (R3,3-million) to purchase a diamond and amethyst cross pendant worn by Princess Diana.
According to The Guardian, the Attallah Cross was sold at an auction at Sotheby's Royal and Noble Sale in London on Wednesday.
Kim did not attend the auction and purchased the 1920s pendant through a representative. The piece was created by designer Garrard and it was later sold to businessman Naim Attallah.
Princess Diana wore the cross necklace to a charity gala in London in October 1987. The late Princess of Wales was spotted wearing the necklace on several other occasions.
"This is a bold piece of jewelry by its size, color and style which cannot fail to make a vibrant statement, whether it be of faith or fashion — or indeed both. We are delighted that this piece has found a new lease of life within the hands of another globally famous name," Sotheby's London said in a statement, according to People.

This is not the first Kim has bought historic pieces. She raised eyebrows during Halloween 2022 when she revealed that her daughter, North West, was wearing a hat and jacket that was once worn by Michael Jackson.
The 42-year-old shared a picture of North dressed up as the 'King of Pop' on her Instagram Stories.
"Along with [the] jacket, North also got Michael's Smooth Criminal hat. It still has his makeup on it," she wrote.
The SKIMS founder reportedly also owns pieces that belonged to Jackie O and Elizabeth Taylor.

Social media users have questioned whether Kim is obsessed with the dead. She made headlines last year after wearing Marilyn Monroe's iconic 'Happy Birthday, Mr President' dress to the 2022 Met Gala.
Marilyn wore the dress - which was designed by Bob Mackie - in 1962 while serenading President John F. Kennedy. It was sold to Ripley's Believe It or Not! for $5-million in 2016.
Kim was slammed for wearing the dress, which could only be touched with gloves. She was later accused of ruining the famous dress, which she had to lose 7kg to fit into.
