Khanyi Mbau tells South Africans to "chill" after a Dove ad was accused of racism.
Khanyi Mbau has come out in support of the Dove advert that has been slammed by some for being racist.
The TV personality says she found the full version of the ad "interesting", and does not get what all the fuss is about.
She shared a video of the controversial ad on her Instagram page along with a lengthy caption explaining why she thinks everyone needs to "chill".
"Sadly we all saw the first part of it in a form of a still picture.. now that the full version is out.. your thoughts.. personally I think we all need to chill! Everything has become personal!!! Seriously people... not everything is about getting the black man!!" she wrote.
Some of Khanyi's fans commented that they felt the same, adding that the incident was blown out of proportion.
But others slammed the socialite-turned-actress, saying she would not understand as she had bleached skin.
Dove was forced to remove the ad after it caused outrage on social media.
The ad showed a black woman taking off her t-shirt to reveal a white woman underneath. The white woman then does the same and a woman of a different race appears.
But many people only shared the clip, and screenshots, of the black woman turning into a white woman in the advertisement, which was for a cleansing product.
This led some to accuse the company of trying to insinuate that the black woman had become "clean" after using the Dove soap, and turned into a white woman.
Dove apologised for any offence caused.
"An image we recently posted missed the mark in representing women of colour thoughtfully. We deeply regret the offense it caused," the company tweeted.
