Kelly Clarkson sued by her father-in-law's management company
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
A company owned by Kelly Clarkson's estranged husband's father is suing her for $1.4-million (nearly R24-million).
Kelly Clarkson and her husband, Brandon Blackstock, are in the middle of a divorce, but he might not be the only Blackstock she will have to go head-to-head with in court.
Starstruck Management Group, a company owned by Brandon's father Narvel, is suing the 38-year-old for $1.4-million in unpaid commission.
According to Variety, Kelly has reportedly already paid her long-time managers $1.9-million (over R31-million) this year, but they say she owes them more for her work on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' and 'The Voice'.
Kelly has been working with the company for 13 years. Starstruck says it helped turn her into the "mega-superstar" that she is today.
The singer is accused of breaching an oral contract she had with the company.
The lawsuit claims she will owe the management group $5.4-million in commission by the end of 2020.
"Despite Starstruck’s hard work and dedication, Clarkson has decided she is going to stop paying Starstruck for what is contractually owed," Variety quoted the lawsuit.
