Justin Timberlake sells his music catalogue for R1.5-billion

Justin Timberlake has just made some serious bank!
Justin Timberlake has joined the likes of Shakira and The Chainsmokers in selling his entire music catalogue. The 'SexyBack' hitmaker has reportedly secured a deal worth at least $100-million (R1.5-billion).
Hipgnosis Song Management announced on Thursday that it had acquired the copyrights to more than 200 songs Justin wrote and co-wrote.
"Hipgnosis has acquired 100% of all of Justin Timberlake’s copyright, ownership, and financial interests of the Writer and Publisher’s Share of Public Performance income, and the catalogue of musical compositions written by Justin Timberlake," the company said in a statement.

The 41-year-old's career spans over two decades. The former NSYNC group member launched his solo career in 2002 with his hit album, 'Justified'.
He has recorded five solo studio albums that have produced 40 singles. Some of his biggest hits include '4 Minutes', 'Suit & Tie', 'Mirrors', 'Give It To Me', and 'What Goes Around Comes Around'.
Hipgnosis described Justin as an "iconic American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor who is one of the most influential artists of the last 20 years".

Justin has co-written songs for artists such as Rihanna, The Weeknd, and Madonna.
“I am excited to be partnering with Merck and Hipgnosis – he values artists and their creative work and has always been a strong supporter of songwriters and storytelling. I look forward to entering this next chapter," the singer said in a statement.
Shakira also sold her music publishing rights to the Hipgnosis Song Fund. The 'Hips Don't Lie' hitmaker sold all 145 of her songs to the company.
Hipgnosis also acquired The Chainsmokers' writer and publishing rights in 2019.
