Jordy Smith ties the knot

Durban's surfing legend Jordy Smith married supermodel Lyndall Jarvis this weekend in Cape Town. See the photos here.

The Grand Beach Café hosted the wedding of all weddings as the who’s who of South African surfing descended.

I was lucky enough to be a part of this very special occasion and can tell you that the ceremony was nothing less than spectacular.

Our Jordy looked dapper in a black Hugo Boss suit, backed up with his best men in grey. Capetonian supermodel Lyndall Jarvis made a breathtaking entrance wearing an ivory lace floor-length gown.

I don’t think there was a dry eye in the crowd as her mum and dad handed her over to the surfing prince.

Champagne and cocktails flowed freely as we dined on oysters and decadent sea food snacks. Lyndall was adamant no-one was going hungry. After enjoying a gorgeous sunset overlooking the sea, the formalities began with Warwick Wright on the mic as MC of the evening.

Once again my mascara run down my cheeks as we heard both Jordy and Lyndall sharing their commitment and love for each other.

Our table of 30 Durbanites did the 031 proud and, besides the bridesmaids in stunning floor length mint dresses, we were definitely the hottest table. Jeanne D or Tracey McGreggor might argue that fact, but you can decide for yourself and catch the full event on Top Billing soon.

It was such a privilege to be a part of such a romantic and memorable occasion. For someone who usually HATES weddings I was weak at the knees and literally had a lump in my throat all day as I was so, so proud of my friend Jordy Smith.
