He's back! Jon Stewart set to return to 'The Daily Show'
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Jon Stewart is making a return to 'The Daily Show' following Trevor Noah's departure.
More than eight years after handing over the reins to Trevor Noah, Jon Stewart is back in action on 'The Daily Show'.
The 61-year-old will be returning to the show part-time during America's election cycle.
According to CBS News, Jon will host one show a week from February 12 until the 2024 presidential election in November.
Donald Trump is reportedly on track to secure the GOP nomination, which means he could face off with President Joe Biden - who is running for a second term in office.
Chris McCarthy, President and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, says Jon is the perfect man to host the show during the elections.
"Jon Stewart is the voice of our generation, and we are honored to have him return to Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show' to help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country as we enter the election season," he said.
Chris added: "In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics, Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit."

Trevor was one of the first people to congratulate Jon after news of his return broke.
"Yessssssss he’s back," the South African comedian wrote on Twitter.
Trevor announced in September 2022 that he will be leaving 'The Daily Show' to focus on his stand-up career. His last day was December 8 that same year.
Trevor paid tribute to Jon in 2015 when he was announced as the show's new host.
"No-one can replace Jon Stewart. But together with the amazing team at The Daily Show, we will continue to make this the best damn news show!" he tweeted.
And that he did. Trevor won several awards for his work on the show, including two primetime Emmys. He received a total of 18 Emmy nominations since 2017.
He also won 'Best TV Host' at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards in Los Angeles, beating popular talk show hosts like Ellen DeGeneres.
It's still unclear who will permanently replace Trevor on 'The Daily Show'. However, some viewers are hoping Jon is here to stay.
"The goat is back. Return of the king. Welcome back Jon Stewart, please stay awhile! Daily Show host!" one X user tweeted.
