A new adaptation of Disney's 'The Little Mermaid' starring Halle Bailey hits the big screen in 2023.
Halle Bailey has revealed that she has seen "little clips" of herself in the new 'The Little Mermaid' movie.
Disney announced in 2019 that Halle will play Ariel in a live-action version of the popular 1989 animated film.
Production on the film, which has a May 2023 release date, wrapped up in 2021. Halle, who sings in an R&B duo with her sister Chloe Bailey, says she gets emotional thinking about her role as Ariel.
"I've seen little clips... and I cried the other day. Because I was like, 'I don't understand how this is happening! How this is even me? It's very overwhelming. I get really emotional just talking about it," she told ET in an interview at the 2022 BET Awards on Sunday.

The new 'The Little Mermaid' also stars Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.
Javier Bardem will play King Triton, while Daveed Daniele Diggs will voice Sebastian.
While there was some controversy over a person of colour playing the role of Ariel - who has fair skin, blue eyes, and red hair, movie critics are looking forward to Halle's portrayal of the iconic character.
Fans also can't wait to hear Halle's vocals in the film.
The movie's original soundtrack features songs like 'Part Of Your World' and 'Under The Sea'.
Halle gave people a taste of what they can expect during her performance at Disney World's 50th anniversary celebrations.
The 22-year-old sang 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight' from 'The Lion King'. Watch the video below.
