Four signs you are the 'Odd Mom Out'
Updated | By Sponsored
Are you the "odd mom out" of your friends? Read these four signs to find out.
Let’s face it, motherhood is no walk in the park, and things can get worse when you realise you are the odd mom out.
That’s what happens to Jill Weber (played by Jill Kargman) when she finds herself being the Odd Mom Out (Season 1 now on Showmax, with Season 2 coming next month) in her super-rich mommy clique on the Upper East Side.
Jill finds herself in some hilarious and awkward situations when she tries to prove that she is not like the other moms. The series is actually based on a true story from writer, creator and actress Jill Kargman’s own life. Don’t reach for that box of tissues just yet - she is proof that it is okay to be the Odd Mom Out, and that it can actually be quite liberating. Not to mention good comic value for everyone watching from the sidelines.
Here are four signs you are the odd mom out of your friends.
1. You show up for school-drops in your PJs
Walking out of the house while still dressed in your pajamas is a no-no for most people. But when you are a mom of multiples, you might be forced to do just that when you are running late for school and you are one late slip away from getting your children suspended. While most moms caught in this situation might be embarrassed, the odd mom out shamelessly waves at everyone she notices in the drop-off queue despite the fact that they are all giving her major side-eye.
2. You’re craft-challenged and time-restricted
While most moms are making Pinterest-worthy DIY birthday cards, and Buddy Valastro inspired cupcakes for the school bake sale, you show up with store-bought cards and milk tart. While some moms might be appalled by your lack of creativity, you give yourself a pat on the back for making it to the store five minutes before it closed. Not every mom can be Martha Stewart!
3. Your kids show up to a party with mismatched shoes
While other moms are planning the cute outfits their children will wear to a birthday party, you throw something together at the last minute and hope it all matches. If it doesn’t, people will understand, right? They are just kids, after all.
4. You serve chicken nuggets at your kid’s party
These days, moms are obsessed with ensuring everything their children eat is gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, and organic. That’s all well and good, but you don’t mind making a few exceptions for a fun birthday party. What about all those kids who only eat politically correct food? The odd mom’s answer to that? “They can have an apple!”
