you feeling pretty sad about the big bad world we live in. But every now and again a feel-good story comes along that makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside.
These stories of kindness will restore your faith in mankind, and give you hope that there are still plenty of good people out in the world.
From saving a drowning chimp, to a police officer who rescued a cat, these stories are sure to melt your heart.
Homeless beach cleaner goes viral
We shed a tear (or two) after reading the story of a Cape Town businessman who helped change the life of a homeless man on Bantry Bay Beach. Jay Margolis noticed Siyabulela Magobiyane collecting bags of trash on the beach, and disposing of them at a nearby bin. When he approached the homeless man he learned that he was “embarrassed” about the rubbish polluting the city’s beautiful beach and decided to do something about it – without being told to, or being paid to do so. He posted his encounter with the homeless man on Facebook, and the post went viral. Siyabulela was soon placed in a homeless shelter that would help get his life back on track, and offered a permanent job.
Man saves a drowning chimp
This story of a man saving a drowning chimp melted hearts in 1990 and continues to do so 26 years later. Two fighting chimps drew the attention of onlookers at a zoo in Detroit, but when one of them fell into a deep moat during the altercation, people watched in horror as it struggled to stay above the water. A truck driver jumped into the ape enclosure, despite warnings from zoo keepers, and rescued the chimp. But don’t try this at home folks, we recently saw the deadly consequences of jumping into a zoo enclosure.
Officer rescues cat
A South Carolina police officer got more attention than he had bargained for when he posted a picture of himself and a cat he rescued. The 28-year-old rescued the cat, which he named Spirit, after finding it in a dumpster. Their cute snap went viral a few weeks ago, and has resulted in dozens of marriage proposals for the superhero cop!

Dog saves family from fire
A Brisbane family escaped a house fire after their dog’s barking alerted them to the blaze. The Australian family’s smoke alarm did not go off, and if it had not been for their dog, there may very well have been a different ending to this story. The fire started in the early hours of the morning, and quickly spread to a boat loaded with diesel. The sleeping family was woken thanks to their dog’s continuous barking.
The accidental birth announcement
A Georgia man made headlines earlier this year after he received a birth announcement from a woman he did not know. Instead of ignoring the group text message, 21-year-old Dennis Williams and his brother Deorick showed up at the hospital with a present for the couple’s new born baby boy, Cason Knox. How sweet?!
