Durban to host top Bollywood stars

Durban will roll out the red carpet to some of Bollywood’s elite in September.
Saif Ali Khan and John Abraham are among Indian cinema’s top stars who will be heading our way.
They’ll be among the high profile guests at the first-ever South Africa India Film and Television Awards, or Saifta for short.
Saif Ali Khan will be the host for the gala event at Durban’s ICC on 6 September. Saif of course is no stranger to the east coast – he filmed the movie Race here in our city.

Veteran star Waheeda Rehman, director Farah Khan and actor Boman Irani have also been confirmed for Saifta, as have popular TV actors Apurva and Shilpa Agnihotri.
Apurva has won several awards, including ‘Indian Telly Best Actor Award’ for Jaissi Jaissi Koi Nahin.
Shilpa plays Ganga in the popular soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’and hosts a children’s talent show Rin Mera Star Superstar.

The Indian jury panel for the glitzy event includes legendary actress Waheeda Rehman, producer Mukesh Bhatt, actor Boman Irani, director and screenwriter Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, along with director Ms. Farah Khan.

The South African panel comprises luminaries such as renowned actor and writer Welcome Msomi, theatre and TV personality Saira Essa, film industry veteran Peter Rorvik, performing artist Linda Bukhosini, theatre personality Caroline Smart and actress Leleti Khumalo.
Tickets for Saifta will be available from Computicket from the first week of August.
