Dua Lipa slapped with second copyright infringement claim over 'Levitating'
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
'Levitating' allegedly rips off the song melodies of two singles recorded in the 70s and 80s.
Dua Lipa's hit single, 'Levitating', is one of her biggest songs to date, but it could soon become the one with the most lawsuits.
The 26-year-old is facing another copyright infringement claim after songwriters L. Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer filed a lawsuit against the song last week.
The writers say 'Levitating' is similar to two songs they wrote, 'Don Diablo' and 'Wiggle And Giggle All Night'.
The singles were written for Miguel Bosé and Cory Daye for songs recorded in 1980 and 1979.
According to Billboard, Brown and Linzer say the opening melody for Dua Lipa's song is a “duplicate” of the melody used in their songs.
Dua Lipa is also facing another copyright lawsuit filed by Artikal Sound System - a reggae band from Florida. The band claims "'Levitating' ripped off parts of their 2017 single, 'Live Your Life'".

Dua Lipa released 'Levitating' in 2020. It is a single from her second album, 'Future Nostalgia'. She told the Song Exploder podcast that the single was influenced by some of the songs she grew up listening to.
"I wanted to touch on my childhood influences. And a lot of my childhood influences are really songs and music that my parents listened to. A lot of Jamiroquai, Prince, Blondie. And when those songs are played now ... all I wanna do is dance," she said told the podcast.
The English singer is yet to respond to the latest copyright claims.
