Dolly Parton, 77, reveals why she never had children
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
The 'Queen of Country' chose her career over having kids and she doesn't regret it one bit.
Dolly Parton and her husband Carl Thomas Dean have been married for 57 years but the couple has never had children.
The 'Jolene' singer opened up about why she chose not to have kids in a new interview with Saga magazine.
"When you’re a young couple, you think you’re going to have kids, but it just wasn’t one of those burning things for me. I had my career and my music and I was traveling," she told the publication.
Dolly, who was 20 years old when she tied the knot, told the magazine that she didn't miss having kids as much as she thought she would.
"If I’d had kids, I’d have stayed home with them, I’m sure, and worried myself to death about them. With everything that’s going on, I’d hate to be bringing a child into this world right now," 77-year-old said.

Many people have mistakenly believed that Miley Cyrus is Dolly Parton's daughter or that they are related in some way. The pair share a close bond.
Miley, whose father is country stat Billy Rae Cyrus, is actually Dolly's goddaughter. Dolly was one of the first artists to support Billy when he burst onto the country music scene.
"I love Dolly. I probably wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing without her," he once said in an interview.

According to reports, she had to look after some of her siblings when she got married. Their children now call her "Aunt Granny".
Many of Dolly's charitable efforts also focus on children. Dolly's Imagination Library, which was launched in the 90s, has gifted millions of books to kids all over the world.
